The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kearney throws the kick towards the body but Matilla avoids it.
An attempted straight right counter from Matilla misses the target.
Kearney is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Kearney closes this distance looking for a takedown but Matilla circles away.
Kearney fails with the takedown.
Kearney throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Matilla.

Kearney shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Matilla as he avoids it easily.

and Kearney counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Kearney dives in for a single leg takedown but Matilla sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Horrible takedown attempt by Kearney or perhaps it was just good defense by Matilla, which made it look bad.
Matilla throws out a loose jab but Kearney uses good head movement to avoid it.

Matilla avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Matilla fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Kearney checks it well.
Kearney tries to score a power double leg takedown but Matilla sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kearney somewhat.

Matilla lands a nice leg kick that just misses Kearney's sensitive parts.
Kearney uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Matilla.
Kearney drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Matilla defends it well.

Kearney manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Matilla on his heels. He'll look to pass Matilla's guard now, I'm sure.

Matilla has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Kearney doesn't defend quickly enough and Matilla has managed to lock this one up! Can Kearney escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Matilla on a fantastic submission victory.
