Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Igor Shusharin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mark Banner!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Daniel Franklin and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Banner misses the jab.
Shusharin fails with a takedown attempt.
Shusharin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Banner closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Banner lands in his opponent's guard.

Shusharin has momentary wrist control but Banner slips an elbow through the middle.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Shusharin is on top in guard.

Shusharin drops back, looking for a kneebar! Banner looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Banner looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Banner!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Banner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shusharin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

It looks like Igor Shusharin has been cut.
Banner tries to bum rush Shusharin with a series of wild strikes but Shusharin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Banner looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Shusharin looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Banner wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Banner looks to score with a jab to the body but Shusharin is just out of range.
Banner throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Shusharin shoots in for a double leg but Banner sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Banner is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Shusharin's half guard.

Banner looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Shusharin trying to control from the bottom.
Shusharin is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Banner is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Shusharin is looking for a sweep. Banner is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Banner tries to pass the half guard into mount. Shusharin knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Banner is nestled in close to Shusharin, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Banner has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Banner connects with a nice short shot to Shusharin's temple.
