The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stapenarkis shoots in looking for a takedown. Preton tries to sprawl out of it but Stapenarkis keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Preton manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Preton attempts a counter takedown but Stapenarkis avoids it well and moves away.
Nice takedown defense from Preton. No joy for Stapenarkis on that attempt.
Preton looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Stapenarkis is fending him off so far but Preton persists. Nope, Stapenarkis circles away and we're back to standing.

Stapenarkis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Preton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Preton postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Preton is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Preton works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Stapenarkis is trying to stand back up but Preton is controlling him
Preton is looking to take a break and control but Stapenarkis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Preton lands a big elbow - Stapenarkis is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Preton!
