Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Leandro Ribeiro (ranked 22115 p4p, 4142 weight class) and Barkeep Quark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leandro Ribeiro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Barkeep Quark!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quark is trying hard to land a takedown here. Ribeiro sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Quark closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Ribeiro did well to prevent Quark getting side control.

Quark's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Quark is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Ribeiro doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Quark.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Quark in particular looking to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Quark slows the pace down in half guard.
Ribeiro is striking from the bottom but he's now found himself mounted! Oh dear - not enough focus on defense there.
Quark controlling the pace for now.
Ribeiro wants to control but Quark is having none of it.
Ribeiro is looking to get to half guard.
Quark looking to control and managing it successfully.

Quark looking to secure an arm triangle but Ribeiro defends it well.

Ribeiro bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Ribeiro drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Quark manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ribeiro has Quark in his guard.

Quark is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
It looks like Quark might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Ribeiro has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Quark can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Quark wants to stand but Ribeiro is controlling his posture from full guard.

Barkeep Quark dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.


Ribeiro shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Quark manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Quark looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Quark wants to stand and escape but Ribeiro is having none of it.

Ribeiro is fighting to break Quark's control of his arms but Quark is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Ribeiro working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Quark doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Quark manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Ribeiro looking for a sweep. Not yet Ribeiro, not yet.
Quark slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Quark must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Ribeiro manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Quark manages to get himself to full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ribeiro in particular looking to stall.

Ribeiro throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Quark to regain full guard.
Ribeiro wants to control from the top but Quark keeps moving.
Ribeiro stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Quark swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Ribeiro is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Quark to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.

Ribeiro is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Ribeiro lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Quark is pulling down on Ribeiro's head. It's preventing any offense from Ribeiro, at least for the moment.
Ribeiro wants to pass the guard but Quark is keeping the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Quark drives through with a takedown into guard.
Quark not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Ribeiro working for a triangle but Quark defends it easily.

Quark is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Quark thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Quark got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ribeiro has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Quark has managed to get both his arms back between Ribeiro's legs - danger averted.

Ribeiro controls Quark momentarily but Quark frees himself.

Quark is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Barkeep Quark.
I think Quark has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
