Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Henri Antetokounmpo (ranked 4546 p4p, 2681 weight class) and Master Bates (ranked 512 p4p, 333 weight class). Master Bates is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Henri Antetokounmpo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Master Bates!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Dirk Anderson and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good leg kick by Antetokounmpo.
Antetokounmpo stalks Bates and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Bates's face. Bates staggers backwards, shaken.

Bates gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Antetokounmpo trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Antetokounmpo wants to control from the top but Bates keeps moving.
Antetokounmpo throws a big right hand that misses.

Bates throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Bates is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Let's hope that Bates has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Antetokounmpo trying to control but Bates is working from the bottom.

Bates escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Antetokounmpo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Bates throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Bates is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Bates pulls Antetokounmpo in close to his closed guard and prevents Antetokounmpo from doing any damage or advancing position.
Antetokounmpo not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Antetokounmpo wants to control from the top but Bates keeps moving.
Bates is controlling Antetokounmpo's posture.
Bates manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Antetokounmpo manages to get himself to full guard.

Antetokounmpo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bates defends it easily.

Bates wants to stand but Antetokounmpo has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Master Bates will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Bates dodges the punch combination from Antetokounmpo.

Bates throws a low kick but Antetokounmpo moves out of range easily.
Antetokounmpo works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Bates tries for a takedown but Antetokounmpo circles away easily
and Antetokounmpo counters with a nice uppercut.

Bates dives in and scores a takedown into Antetokounmpo's guard.
Bates must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Bates is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Antetokounmpo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bates defends well.
Bates makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Bates engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Bates is pushing down on Antetokounmpo's leg trying to pass to half guard. Antetokounmpo is fighting to maintain full guard but Bates has managed to sneak the leg through.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Bates lands a nice short elbow.
Antetokounmpo throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Bates tries to pass the half guard into mount. Antetokounmpo knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Bates seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Bates working over Antetokounmpo with some ground and pound. Antetokounmpo looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Bates is controlling the pace.

Antetokounmpo wants to control but Bates is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Bates content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Bates's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
No joy there for Antetokounmpo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Bates closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bates lands in his opponent's guard.
Bates stays in close to Antetokounmpo's body and controls the position.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Bates.
More stalling from Bates.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Master Bates showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Bates takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Antetokounmpo works over Bates's head and body with a nice combination.
Antetokounmpo throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

so Bates counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Bates content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Bates working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Antetokounmpo's head.

Bates works over Antetokounmpo with some ground and pound from guard.

Antetokounmpo wants to sweep here but Bates controlling him for the moment.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bates slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bates is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Antetokounmpo trying to keep a closed guard but Bates is proving a slippery customer.
Bates is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Bates got a little sloppy there for a moment and Antetokounmpo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bates has managed to get both his arms back between Antetokounmpo's legs - danger averted.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Bates lands a big shot there that rocks Antetokounmpo but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Master Bates has got the better of the ground game so far.
Bates takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Bates has isolated one of Antetokounmpo's arms. Antetokounmpo looking to fight him off but Bates twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
