Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jose Mendez (ranked 4565 p4p, 5124 weight class) and Mark Beneke (ranked 0 p4p, 549 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jose Mendez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Beneke!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beneke lands a jab to the nose.
Beneke scores with a three punch combo!
Mendez on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Mendez tries to move into range but Beneke moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Mendez tries for a takedown but Beneke sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
It seemed like Beneke was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Beneke wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Beneke keeps the fight on the outside.

Mendez changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Beneke looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Mendez has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Good exchange - Beneke coming out on top.

Mendez shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Beneke is trying to defend but Mendez finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Beneke wants to stand back up but Mendez manages to pass into side control.
Mendez moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mendez cracks Beneke with a big right hand but Beneke just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Mendez scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Beneke to see if he's OK.
Mendez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Beneke keeps working.
Mendez in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mendez stands up.
Mark Beneke seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Beneke with a jab.
Beneke avoids the head kick by Mendez.
Mendez moves forwards but Beneke connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Mendez takes one on the button.
Mendez shoots in and drives through. Beneke sprawls well.
Mendez misses with a takedown attempt - Beneke sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jose Mendez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nice takedown defense from Beneke. No joy for Mendez on that attempt.
Beneke moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mendez tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Beneke paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Beneke avoids the body shot from Mendez.
Mendez is breathing heavily.
Beneke connects with a crisp jab.
Beneke connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Mendez momentarily.
Beneke connects with a right hand. Mendez shakes it off.
Beneke slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Beneke lands with an uppercut that bounces Mendez off the cage and back into range.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Beneke lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Beneke scores with a sloppy right hand. Mendez should have avoided that one.

Mendez is rocked!
Beneke lands a jab to Mendez's midsection.
Beneke connects with a looping right hand.
Oh Mendez is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mendez has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Beneke finds it's way round the side to connect with Mendez's head.
Mendez tries to move into range but Beneke moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Mendez ducks right into an uppercut from Beneke.
Beneke scores with a nice right hand.
Mendez finds himself stumbling back on wobbly legs after being clipped by a right hand. He's up against the cage, ducking and weaving under Beneke's strikes but an uppercut finds it's way through and Mendez falls! - He's completely out of it and the ref jumps in to save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mark Beneke!
Mark Beneke seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
