PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between buck pure (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Critical Damage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Critical Damage looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, buck pure!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Critical Damage!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Arvi Lind and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
pure shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Damage as he avoids it easily.
Damage misses with a takedown

and pure decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Damage's guard.

pure thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Damage had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. pure is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Damage Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take pure's back instead.

Damage is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. pure is defending well though. Damage let's go of the attempt for now.
Damage looks gassed!

Damage is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. pure knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften pure for a finish.
pure tries to roll but Damage sticks to his back.
pure is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Damage has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, pure has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

That's one minute gone in the round.
pure manages to reverse the position and now he's in Damage's guard. Nice work there by pure.

pure decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Damage gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and pure counters with a three punch combo that has Damage backing up. Damage nods at pure to acknowledge the strikes.
Damage tries for a takedown but pure circles away easily

and pure counters with a nice double leg into side control. Damage won't be happy with that.
buck pure has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Critical Damage.

pure decides to take the fight back to the feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Damage tries for a takedown but pure circles away easily

and pure counters with a takedown into side control.

pure stands up and beckons Damage to his feet.
Damage has his takedown stuffed

and pure counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Damage's guard now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Damage has a closed guard, preventing pure from standing up.
Damage manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. pure manages to get himself to full guard.
pure wants to stand up but Damage is controlling him.
Damage trying to control but pure is working from the bottom.
pure knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Damage on the ground.
pure wants to control but Damage passes easily into half guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Damage is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Damage is nestled in close to pure, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

pure has one foot on Damage's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Damage closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Damage lands in his opponent's guard.
pure wants to sweep but no luck.

Damage drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Damage jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
pure throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Damage stands and throws pure's legs to the side, diving into side control.
pure is not content to let Damage control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
pure taking a bit of punishment here - Damage scoring with strikes.
Damage trying to control the position but pure is working away.

Damage in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... pure is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Critical Damage!
