PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Brew King (ranked 4661 p4p, 4659 weight class) and Blade Hands (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Brew King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Blade Hands!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Michael Johnstone and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hands with a hook.
Donk. Hands catches King right on the button with a cross.
King has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hands finds it's way round the side to connect with King's head.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from King is defended easily by Hands.
King fails with a takedown attempt.
Hands connects with a right hand. King shakes it off.
King takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
King moves forwards but Hands connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Hands scores with the left hand. King knows he should have avoided that one.
A jab lands there for Hands.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Hands enables King to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hands manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Hands pulls King in close to prevent any damage.

King is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Hands looking to control.
Hands wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Hands keeping moving, preventing King from controlling successfully.
King passes Hands's left leg - he's now in half guard.
King is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

King is looking for a kimura here.
King is trying to control the action in half guard but Hands is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Hands is positioning himself well to prevent King advancing to mount.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hands tries to get to full guard but King has control of the leg.
Hands is still trying to improve position.
King wants to control but Hands is keeping him busy.
King is pressing down on Hands's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hands is holding on for now.
King passes to full mount!
Hands is trying to escape the mount.

King is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Hands is surviving well by controlling King's body position as best he can.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
King is trying to take his opponent's back.
Hands working to try and regain half guard.

King is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Hands can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

King jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Hands manages to avoid the submission attempt.

King thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
King wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hands keeps working.

King looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
King in side control, just content to control the action for now.

King is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hands knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hands is holding King down, trying to stall.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Hands's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

King tries for a kimura but Hands is defending well.

King tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no King has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Hands tries to improve position but can't.
King happy to just control the position for now.

King tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Hands is looking for a sweep.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Brew King will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Hands cracks King with a good jab.
Hands connects with a body shot that sends King's belly button to the back.
Hands with a body punch. A glancing blow.
King throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Hands counters with a right hand to the body.
Brew King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hands lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
King doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Hands fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
King on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Hands dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Hands paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hands fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. King looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
King fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
King shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Hands ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Hands lands a right hook to the body.
Horrible takedown attempt by King or perhaps it was just good defense by Hands, which made it look bad.
Hands lands with a right hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hands dips to his left and cracks King with an uppercut!
Hands connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed King momentarily.

King drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Hands trying to remain calm as King controls from the top position.

King tries for a kimura but Hands is defending well.
Hands really doesn't want to stay on the ground with King. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
King working away.

King thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Hands is not content to let King control the position.

King is trying to get an arm triangle but Hands is defending well.
Hands has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Hands is trying to control King's posture but King avoids it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
King wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hands keeps working.

King is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Hands is trying to escape and King transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Hands is forced to tap! Nice work there by King! Very nice indeed!
