The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson lands a right hook to the body.
Irons will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Quinton Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Irons closes the distance and clinches.
Irons pushes off an throws an elbow but Jackson leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Jackson lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Nice combo by Jackson! Oh, that's hurt him - Irons falls to the canvas and Jackson follows him into side control.


Irons is rocked!


It looks like John Henry Irons has been cut.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Irons can't do much from the bottom here.

You can see the frustration on Irons's face as Jackson controls the position.

Irons changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jackson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Irons is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Jackson's shoulder. That is not cool.
Jackson tries to improve position but can't.
Jackson struggling a bit here.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jackson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Irons working the ground and pound.
Jackson is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Irons wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jackson, who protects the arm well.
Irons is breathing heavily.
Irons misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Jackson is trying to control Irons's posture but Irons avoids it.
Irons in side control, throwing shots but Jackson defends.

You can see the frustration on Jackson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Irons looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Jackson is avoiding damage well.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Jackson throws a right and a left that Irons avoids nicely.
Jackson misses with a two punch combination.
Irons shoots in for a takedown but Jackson shows good takedown defense.

Jackson lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jackson sends Irons crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Jackson is motioning to the referee to let Irons up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Oh Irons is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jackson throws a monster overhand right that drops Irons! Jackson follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!
