Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Steel (ranked 2404 p4p, 23944 weight class) and Jerome Winters (ranked 343 p4p, 786 weight class). Winters comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Avatar - Colossus kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Jerome Winters enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Steel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jerome Winters!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Summer Carpenter and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Winters misses the body punch
and Steel counters with a nice uppercut.

Steel gets caught flat footed, as Winters shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Winters must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Steel has his foot on Winters's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Winters works his way back into a safe position though.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Winters working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Steel looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Winters puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Winters in particular looking to stall.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Winters got a little sloppy there for a moment and Steel has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Winters has managed to get both his arms back between Steel's legs - danger averted.
