PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Yoshifumi Masaki (ranked 3010 p4p, 4674 weight class) and Pascal Beeizy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yoshifumi Masaki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pascal Beeizy!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Sosuke Kotani and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Beeizy gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Beeizy drops down looking for an ankle pick but Masaki pulls his leg out and moves away.
Masaki shoots in for a double leg but Beeizy sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Beeizy shoots in but no luck this time.
Beeizy shoots for a double leg takedown but Masaki sprawls well. He's pushed Beeizy's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Yoshifumi Masaki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pascal Beeizy.
Beeizy shoots in for a takedown but Masaki shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Masaki is looking to counter the offense by Beeizy and move into the clinch.
Beeizy circles away from the clinch attempt.
Masaki fails with the takedown.
Beeizy lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No joy there for Masaki, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
The fight stays on the outside here - Masaki looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Beeizy clinches up against the cage.

Beeizy has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Masaki avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Masaki is trying to break the clinch but Beeizy has him pressed against the cage.
Beeizy is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Masaki can't get the takedown.

Masaki breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Masaki rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Beeizy moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Beeizy drives through with a takedown into Masaki's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Masaki wants to get back to his feet but Beeizy passes into half guard.

Beeizy prevents Masaki from improving his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Masaki trying to control from the bottom.
Masaki makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Masaki.
Beeizy working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Beeizy stands and throws Masaki's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Masaki struggling a bit here.
Masaki is breathing heavily.

Beeizy thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Masaki wants to control but Beeizy postures up.

Beeizy wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Masaki, who protects the arm well.

Beeizy is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Masaki has escaped the position, nice work there.
Beeizy controls the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Beeizy decides to stand back up. Beeizy steps back and let's Masaki get back to his feet.

Beeizy closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Masaki did well to prevent Beeizy getting side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Beeizy drops an elbow to the side of Masaki's head.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Pascal Beeizy dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.


Beeizy closes the distance and clinches.
Beeizy drops down looking for an ankle pick but Masaki pulls his leg out and moves away.
Masaki fails to land the takedown.

Beeizy closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Beeizy is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Beeizy stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Masaki to get to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Beeizy fails to land with a series of punches.
Masaki is looking for a counter combo.
Beeizy throws a nice looking combination but Masaki bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Masaki shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Beeizy counters with a nice body shot.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Masaki shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Beeizy defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yoshifumi Masaki. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Beeizy gets the takedown into side control.
Beeizy controlling the position.

Beeizy tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Beeizy has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Masaki manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Beeizy passes to full mount!
Masaki tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Beeizy landing strikes from the mount and Masaki is in trouble!
Beeizy lands a couple of good shots and Masaki has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Beeizy controlling the position well here. Masaki rolled but Beeizy kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Beeizy has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Beeizy working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Masaki is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Beeizy has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Masaki taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Pascal Beeizy!
