PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Makoto Hoshi (ranked 4672 p4p, 4680 weight class) and Havelsack Gavalwack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Makoto Hoshi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Havelsack Gavalwack!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Dirk Anderson and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Both fighters are only really looking to counter, so after a good 30 seconds of circling each other endlessly, the referee has stepped in and told them both to be more aggressive.

Hoshi darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gavalwack tries to get to full guard but Hoshi has control of the leg.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hoshi trying to control the pace.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hoshi seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Gavalwack for as long as he can get away with.
Gavalwack wants to improve his position but Hoshi is controlling well.
Hoshi perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Hoshi's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Gavalwack tries to clinch up.
Hoshi is looking for a counter combo.

Hoshi shoots in and gets a takedown into Gavalwack's guard.
Hoshi controlling from the top position.
Hoshi advances to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hoshi has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Hoshi stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Hoshi looking to score a takedown here. Gavalwack is defending well but Hoshi drives through and ends up in Gavalwack's guard.
Gavalwack is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hoshi is stalling in the full guard.
Hoshi has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Gavalwack can't keep his opponent in guard - Hoshi advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Makoto Hoshi dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Gavalwack wants to clinch up but Hoshi keeps it at a distance.

Hoshi shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Hoshi was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Hoshi gets to mount! Gavalwack was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hoshi controlling the pace for now.

Hoshi throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Gavalwack has his hands clasped together but Hoshi breaks the hold and Gavalwack is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Hoshi!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Makoto Hoshi!
