The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vinegard lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sammules circles away quickly and effectively.
Sammules tries to counter with a takedown but Vinegard is quick to defend against it.
Sammules takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Vinegard closes the distance and clinches.

Vinegard breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Sammules gets tackled into the cage by Vinegard. Vinegard maintains the clinch.

Vinegard pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Vinegard shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Sammules is looking for a sweep. Vinegard is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vinegard not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Sammules slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Sammules is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Sammules is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Vinegard to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sammules pushes down on Vinegard's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Sammules is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Vinegard is just riding it out for now. Sammules eventually gives up the hold.
