PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Usher (ranked 3053 p4p, 3059 weight class) and Alexander Brown (ranked 385 p4p, 386 weight class). Brown is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Migos Straightenin. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mark Usher !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alexander Brown!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shirou Masuda and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Usher slaps away a takedown attempt from Brown, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Usher shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Usher was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Brown sneaks out the side door and pushes Usher away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Brown scores with a kick to the body.

Brown tries to keep at a distance but Usher has taken the fight into the clinch.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Usher is trying to pull guard but Brown turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Usher is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Usher wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Brown jumps into guard, dragging Usher to the mat.
Brown keeping full guard, as Usher tries to pass.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Usher is really struggling to control Brown but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Brown escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Usher gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Brown is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Usher is controlling him.
Brown avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Usher stopping the sweep attempt from Brown.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Brown has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Usher has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Usher tries to pull guard but Brown holds him up against the cage and eventually Usher drops back down to his feet.

Brown's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Usher goes for a double leg but Brown avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Brown continues to drive forward.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Usher misses with a takedown attempt - Brown sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

The fight stays on the outside here - Brown looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Usher tries to score a power double leg takedown but Brown sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Usher somewhat.

Usher tries to close the distance and clinch up but Brown swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Brown dives in and grabs Usher 's left leg, looking for a takedown. Usher pushes down on Brown's head and hops out.

Usher forces Brown back against the cage and clinches.
Usher is trying to break the clinch but Brown has him pressed against the cage.
Usher misses with a hook to the ribs.

Brown decides to pull guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Brown working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Usher has passed into half guard!
Usher wants to control but Brown is keeping him busy.

Usher scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Brown is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Usher 's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Usher 's back!

Usher is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Brown is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Usher tries to break free.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Alexander Brown showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

No luck with that takedown attempt from Brown.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Brown feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Brown is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Brown closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Usher quickly recovers to half guard.

Brown decides to stand and escape the position.
Brown ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Brown jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Usher is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Usher and Brown has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Usher manages to work his way to half guard, despite Brown's best efforts.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Brown is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Usher manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Brown keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Brown wants to take the fight to the mat but Usher manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The referee is keeping an eye on Usher - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Usher breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Alexander Brown.
I've got Brown winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
