PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Norbury (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedrinho Matador (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Norbury's entrance music is critical mass - nuclear assault. A fine choice. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mark Norbury!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pedrinho Matador!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Matheus Silva and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Matador looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Matador prevents Norbury from standing back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Norbury has a hand on Matador's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Matador takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Norbury is looking to improve his position but Matador isn't that keen on the idea.
Matador blocks Norbury's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

Norbury tries to reverse the position but Matador maintains control.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Norbury is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Norbury keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Norbury is breathing heavily.
Matador prevents Norbury from getting the reversal.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pedrinho Matador dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Norbury blocks a head kick by Matador.
Matador scores with a kick to the body.
Matador swats away the attempt to clinch by Norbury.
Norbury throws the left hand but Matador avoids the punch easily.
Norbury tries for a takedown but Matador sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Matador lands a head kick!

Matador closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Still in half guard, Matador seems content to control.
Norbury pushes Matador off looking to stand but Matador dives back in and keeps control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Matador is controlling the pace.

Despite being in the dominant position, Pedrinho Matador just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Matador throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Norbury.

Matador clinches.

Norbury breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Matador scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Matador lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Matador lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Matador!
Mark Norbury is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Matador throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Norbury.
Matador throws a sloppy head kick and Norbury moves out of range easily.

Matador shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Norbury is working an open guard so Matador takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Matador throws a one two combo.
Matador lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Matador has managed to clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Matador pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Matador shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Norbury's guard.
Matador is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Norbury looking to hit a scissor sweep but Matador is one step ahead there.

Norbury can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Matador controls the pace.
Norbury looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Matador puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Matador looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Norbury wants to control but Matador is keeping busy and won't allow it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Matador with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Matador decides to stand up.
Norbury throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Matador breaks the clinch.
Matador tries a head kick but it misses.
Matador scores with a three punch combo!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pedrinho Matador showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Norbury's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Matador tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Matador throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Norbury's head.
Norbury circles away from the clinch attempt.
Pedrinho Matador seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Matador scores a takedown into full mount!
Norbury is in all sorts of trouble here.
Norbury is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Matador takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Well Matador has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
