PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Jaeger (ranked 5625 p4p, 4878 weight class) and Mo Greene (ranked 618 p4p, 557 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Frank Jaeger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mo Greene!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Chris Dean and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Greene's corner calls for a 1-2. Greene obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Greene scores with a punch to the head.
Jaeger dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Greene. That did some damage!
Greene connects with a good right hand that stumbles Jaeger. Jaeger circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Jaeger throws a leg kick
and Greene counters with a straight right hand.
Greene throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Greene checks a leg kick.
Greene misses with a series of wild punches.
As Greene tries to get set, Jaeger tries to push him back and clinch up but Greene manages to avoid the attempt.
Greene swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Jaeger jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Greene is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Greene throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jaeger takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

It looks like Frank Jaeger has been cut.
Greene rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jaeger moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Jaeger avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
A slapping leg kick lands for Jaeger.
Jaeger takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Greene throws a lazy uppercut
and Jaeger counters with a body kick.
Greene looks winded!
Greene looks to land a right hand but Jaeger moved out of range.
Jaeger tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Greene manages to circle out of the way.
Jaeger throws a head kick that misses
and Jaeger takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Greene shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Jaeger eats them both and turns towards Greene to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jaeger closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jaeger is looking to slow Greene down with leg kicks.
A good leg kick by Jaeger.
That kick from Jaeger tenderised Greene's leg. Greene is trying to keep his angry face on.
Jaeger fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Greene has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Greene misses with a wild combination.
Jaeger seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Jaeger clinches up with Greene and pushes him back against the cage.

Jaeger escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Greene missing with a left hand there. Jaeger was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
A nice combination there by Greene.
Greene looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Greene throws a shot from downtown. Jaeger moves away and avoids it.
Jaeger tries to counter by clinching up but Greene breaks away and moves out of range.

Jaeger has Greene up against the cage in a clinch.
Jaeger gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Greene has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Jaeger lands an elbow just above Greene 's eye.

It looks like Mo Greene has been cut.
I was talking to Jaeger's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Jaeger breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jaeger walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Jaeger misses with a body kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Left hook, right uppercut from Greene.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Greene rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Greene has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Jaeger throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Greene swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Jaeger's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Greene connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Jaeger scrambles back to his feet.
Greene misses with the combination.
Greene throws the left hand but Jaeger avoids the punch easily.
Jaeger throws a quick counter head kick but Greene was just out of range.

Jaeger clinches.
Greene misses with a punch to the body.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Mo Greene dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Jaeger slips a jab and a cross from Greene.
Greene throws a lazy right hand but Jaeger sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Jaeger really is a fat lump.
Greene fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
As Greene tries to get set, Jaeger tries to push him back and clinch up but Greene manages to avoid the attempt.
A head kick by Jaeger misses
and Greene counters with a series of strikes. Jaeger will be more careful next time no doubt.
Greene misses with a wild combination.

Jaeger has closed the distance and engaged Greene in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jaeger keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Greene's efforts to push away.

Jaeger breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Jaeger misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Greene misses with a series of wild punches.
Greene circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jaeger scoring well with a low kick there.
Greene's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Greene throws a predictable looking body shot
and Jaeger counters with a nice leg kick.
Greene is breathing heavily.
Jaeger throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Jaeger misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Greene tries to counter with a clinch but Jaeger shakes him off and moves away.

Jaeger clinches up with Greene and pushes him back against the cage.

Jaeger escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jaeger throws a head kick but Greene moves out of range.
Jaeger blocks a jab.
Jaeger tries a head kick but it misses.
Mo Greene seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Greene goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jaeger is looking to slow Greene down with leg kicks.
Greene has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Greene rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Jaeger holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Greene wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Jaeger's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Greene misses with a short punch on the inside.
Greene has had enough of the clinch but Jaeger keeps him there for the moment.

Greene misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Jaeger.

Jaeger slips a jab and a cross from Greene.
Jaeger misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Greene might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Greene avoids the head kick by Jaeger.
Greene tries to clinch
and Jaeger counters with a nice body kick.
Jaeger tries to land a front kick but Greene steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
As Jaeger backs off Greene throws a huge counter combo but Jaeger manages to avoid it all.
Greene throws an off balance right hand
and Jaeger counters with a low kick, right behind Greene 's knee.
That kick from Jaeger tenderised Greene's leg. Greene is trying to keep his angry face on.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Jaeger thows a body kick. Greene tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Jaeger explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Jaeger.
Jaeger lands a front kick.

Jaeger moves into the clinch.
Jaeger throws a knee to the head but misses.
Jaeger has Greene pushed against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Greene misses with the head strike.
Greene takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Jaeger misses with a knee strike.

Greene tries a body shot but Jaeger blocks it.
Greene tries to throw a body punch but Jaeger avoids it by throwing Greene back against the cage.
Jaeger is pushing Greene up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jaeger stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Jaeger gets a warning from the ref for wasting time.
Greene has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Jaeger.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Frank Jaeger.
Greene misses with a two punch combination.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Jaeger - that will leave a mark!

Jaeger lands a big head kick that sends Greene tumbling to the mat! Jaeger takes a step backwards and waves Greene back to his feet - he wants the finish!
A head kick by Jaeger - that's a beauty! Greene is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Jaeger can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Frank Jaeger!
