PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Barkeep Quark (ranked 3473 p4p, 24651 weight class) and Jaz Moore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barkeep Quark had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Barkeep Quark!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jaz Moore!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Quark feints and as Moore raises his hands in defense, Quark changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Quark slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Quark's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Quark closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Moore did well to prevent Quark getting side control.
Quark stalling.
Quark has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

This is a sustained period of stalling by Quark.
Quark seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Moore for as long as he can get away with.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Quark continues to hold on tight.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Quark looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Moore!

Moore is trying to control Quark's posture but Quark avoids it.

Quark remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

We've been informed that Moore has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Quark thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Quark is staying tight to Moore's torso, preventing him from escaping.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Quark dives in and scores a takedown into Moore's guard.
Quark is stalling in the full guard.
Quark looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Moore is breathing heavily.

Quark looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Quark takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Barkeep Quark overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Quark is stinking the place up with his stalling.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Quark looking to score a takedown here. Moore is defending well but Quark drives through and ends up in Moore's guard.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Quark tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Moore takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Quark moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Moore has worked his arm free - good work by Moore!

Quark moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Check out the look on Quark's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Quark happy to just control the position for now.
Quark working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Quark is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Moore knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Quark is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Moore is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Jaz Moore has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Barkeep Quark is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Barkeep Quark showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Quark has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
