PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cody Rhodes (ranked 4992 p4p, 5092 weight class) and Scott Steiner (ranked 176 p4p, 179 weight class). Rhodes comes to the cage accompanied by Cody Rhodes Entrance song. Steiner is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by STEINER BROS INTRO SONG. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Scott Steiner!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Dirk Anderson and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steiner tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rhodes was well out of range. Poor timing from Steiner.
Rhodes seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Steiner misses with a looping left.

Steiner gets a double leg takedown into Rhodes's guard.

Steiner postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Rhodes is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Steiner, into his guard.

Rhodes has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Steiner is proving hard to escape from.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Steiner is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Rhodes would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Steiner ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Steiner drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Rhodes defends it well.
The fight stays on the outside here - Rhodes looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Rhodes closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Steiner quickly recovers to half guard.
Steiner tries to get to full guard but Rhodes has control of the leg.

Steiner closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Rhodes did well to prevent Steiner getting side control.

Steiner drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Rhodes manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Steiner has Rhodes in his guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Rhodes is looking to stand up but Steiner won't let him.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Cody Rhodes.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rhodes, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
