PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Private Heth (ranked 4675 p4p, 4745 weight class) and Evangjeli Lika (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, David Hoff and Peter Branson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Heth moves into range and clinches up with Lika.
Heth has Lika pressed against the cage, preventing Lika from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Lika pushes off an throws an elbow but Heth leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Lika lands a left hand.
A nice right hand lands inside from Lika.

Heth decides to pull guard.

Heth has an active guard here but Lika has managed to pass into half guard.
Heth missing with punches from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lika throwing shots but Heth is blocking nicely.
Lika is pressing down on Heth's thigh, looking to free his foot. Heth is holding on for now.
Lika wants to take a breather but Heth is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Heth wants to control but Lika is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Lika wants to lay and pray for a moment but Heth keeps working.

Lika is working for a kimura but Heth is defending it quite comfortably.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Heth is looking to escape.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Lika is trying to work for a kimura but Heth is defending well.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Heth gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Heth really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Heth breaks the clinch.
Heth tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Lika! But no joy.

Heth shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Heth looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Lika with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Heth with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Lika keeping control of the position.
Lika avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Heth.
Heth takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Heth tries to stand but can't do so whilst Lika controls his leg.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Heth performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Lika is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Heth is trying to work for a kimura but Lika is defending well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Heth throwing shots but Lika is blocking nicely.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Private Heth will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Lika enables Heth to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Lika manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Lika has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Heth can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Heth seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Heth works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Heth is thwarting Lika's attempts to control the position.
Heth tries to stand but can't do so whilst Lika controls his leg.
Heth is trying to control the action in half guard but Lika is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Lika shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Lika fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Heth avoids it really well and circles away.
Lika shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Heth defends it nicely.
A quick step to the side and Heth tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Private Heth has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Evangjeli Lika.

Heth closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Lika tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Heth with the ground and pound from mount.
Heth lands a big shot there that rocks Lika but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Heth can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Lika is looking to escape.
Lika is just holding on here. Heth manages to take his back.

Lika is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Heth really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Lika.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Heth loading up with punches from the back mount - how long can Lika hold on?
Heth controls the action.

Heth is not going to allow Lika to sit and survive in this position.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Lika lands a body shot.
Lika shoots in looking for a takedown but Heth manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lika's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Heth throws a counter high kick but Lika was just alert enough to avoid it.

Heth gets a takedown into half guard.
Lika wants to stand back up but Heth manages to pass into side control.
Lika stops Heth from passing to mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lika is letting Heth control him for a moment.

Heth tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Heth has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Heth looks up at the clock and then as Lika takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Heth smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Heth is looking to take a break and control but Lika is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Heth lands a shot to the head.
