PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ruth Paulie (ranked 3389 p4p, 3065 weight class) and Porkin Forking (ranked 0 p4p, 382 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ruth Paulie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Porkin Forking!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Daniel Franklin and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Forking dives in and grabs Paulie's left leg, looking for a takedown. Paulie pushes down on Forking's head and hops out.
A head kick by Forking misses

and Paulie counters with a shoot takedown. Forking fights it but they end up in guard.
Paulie controlling from the top position.
Paulie is working Forking over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Paulie keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Forking's head.
Paulie lands a couple of digs.
Forking looking for a sweep. Not yet Forking, not yet.
Forking trying to keep a closed guard but Paulie is proving a slippery customer.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Paulie is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Paulie with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Forking can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Forking controls Paulie momentarily but Paulie frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Paulie controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Paulie has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Forking is looking to stand back up but Paulie counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Forking.
Paulie perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Paulie looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Forking with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Paulie not doing much here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Paulie landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Forking looks winded!
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Paulie tries to stand and escape but Forking is controlling the position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Paulie in particular looking to stall.
Paulie wants to get back to his feet.
Paulie lands strikes from half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Paulie controlling the action here.
Forking trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Paulie looking to control and managing it successfully.
Paulie scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Forking?

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Paulie lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Paulie controlling the pace for now.
Forking is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Paulie working the ground and pound effectively.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Paulie raining down hammerfists from mount.
Paulie is landing with some decent strikes but Forking is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Ruth Paulie dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.


Paulie changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Forking looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Paulie content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Paulie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Forking wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Paulie has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Forking's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Forking is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Paulie!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Ruth Paulie!
