PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jeremy Cross (ranked 953 p4p, 1209 weight class) and Victor Contreiras (ranked 149 p4p, 193 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Cross might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Folk Metal. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jeremy Cross!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Victor Contreiras!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Ackerman and Colin Fotheringham.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cross scores with a sloppy right hand. Contreiras should have avoided that one.

It looks like Victor Contreiras has been cut.
Contreiras misses with an uppercut
and Cross counters with a straight right hand.
Contreiras jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Cross was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Contreiras fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cross manages to avoid it.
A jab from Contreiras misses.
As Contreiras backs away, Cross returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Cross lands an overhand right.
Contreiras slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Contreiras missing with a left hand there. Cross was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Contreiras wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Contreiras misses with a right hand
and Cross counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

That has opened up Victor Contreiras's cut even more.
Contreiras lands with a hook. Cross tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Contreiras works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Cross steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Contreiras.
Contreiras moves away from the strike by Cross.
A right-left combo lands from Contreiras.

It looks like Jeremy Cross has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The crowd cheers as Contreiras lands an impressive looking overhand right. Cross doesn't seem phased though.

Contreiras lands a left and a right that send Cross crashing to the mat, dazed. Contreiras thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Cross is rocked!
Contreiras is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Cross flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Cross is out cold! Contreiras holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Victor Contreiras!
Victor Contreiras bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
Jeremy Cross spoke after the fight, saying 'BY THE LIGHT OF THE MOON!'.
