And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Abraham Ashford!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Eddie Farnsworth and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gillespie clinches with his opponent.
Ashford struggles to land a body shot inside as Gillespie controls his hands.
Gillespie is trying to pull guard but Ashford has him pressed against the cage.
Ashford misses with a short punch on the inside.
Ashford fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Ashford goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Gillespie.
Gillespie blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Gillespie pushes Ashford back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Gillespie has Ashford pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Ashford manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gillespie could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Gillespie has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ashford is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Gillespie tries to score a body lock takedown but Ashford shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Gillespie pulls guard effortlessly.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gillespie is on top in guard.

Gillespie lands a couple of elbows.
Gillespie works over Ashford with some ground and pound from guard.
Gillespie trying to control the position from guard on top but Ashford is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Gillespie content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Gillespie's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Ashford working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Gillespie.
Ashford is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gillespie is controlling him.
Gillespie connects with a couple of short punches.
Ashford really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gillespie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Gillespie scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Gillespie throws a big elbow that misses.
Gillespie won't allow Ashford to get back to his feet.
Gillespie might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Gillespie distracts Ashford with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Gillespie loads up on a big left hand. Ashford felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Gillespie looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Ashford can't hide his disappointment, as Gillespie celebrates the victory.
