And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Derrick Thomas !
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and William Peck.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Salaam moves away from the strike by Thomas .
The fighters circling - Thomas throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
We've been told by Salaam's head coaches at Primal Concrete Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Thomas throws a hook but Salaam avoids it easily.
It looked like Salaam was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Thomas .
Thomas throws a lazy uppercut

and Salaam holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Salaam prevents a body shot from Thomas .
Salaam misses with a punch to the body.
Thomas lands a nice uppercut.
Salaam has a couple of punches blocked by Thomas .
Thomas works on Salaam's body with a couple of short punches.
Thomas gets through Salaam's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Thomas misses with a shot to the kidneys.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salaam takes a shot to the head.

Salaam's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Thomas avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A punch lands to the side of Salaam 's head but he takes it in his stride.
A jab from Thomas misses.
As Thomas tries to get set, Salaam tries to push him back and clinch up but Thomas manages to avoid the attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Salaam looks to throw the jab but Thomas is out of range.

Thomas drops Salaam with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Salaam looks back up at him and smiles so Thomas waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Salaam is rocked!

It looks like Andre Salaam has been cut.
Thomas throws a right and a left that Salaam avoids nicely.
Thomas fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Thomas misses the jab.
Thomas misses with a straight right.
Donk. Thomas catches Salaam right on the button with a cross.
Salaam misses with a series of wild punches.
A little jabbing left from Thomas on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Salaam slips a jab and a cross from Thomas .
Salaam went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Thomas takes a swing at Salaam's ribcage but misses.
Salaam takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Thomas misses with a hook.
Salaam takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Salaam takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Thomas cracks Salaam with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Thomas has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Salaam to stand back up!
Oh Salaam is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Andre Salaam's cut is getting worse.
Thomas throws a shot from downtown. Salaam moves away and avoids it.
Salaam swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Salaam is wiping some vaseline out of his eye. Thomas doesn't give a rats ass about fair play and cracks him with a massive hook to the side of the head! Salaam crumples to the floor out cold! The cornerman is going to be in Salaam's bad books for that mishap!
