PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Carpenter (ranked 3068 p4p, 4467 weight class) and Brazilian Gremlin (ranked 407 p4p, 533 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Mike Carpenter has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Mike Carpenter seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brazilian Gremlin!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Albert Achterberg and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carpenter gets a clinch.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carpenter has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Gremlin stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Gremlin wants it to stay on the feet.

Carpenter seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Gremlin for as long as he can get away with.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Carpenter tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Gremlin only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Carpenter is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gremlin can do to turn this around?

Carpenter shoots in looking for a takedown. Gremlin tries to sprawl out of it but Carpenter keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gremlin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The referee asks Carpenter politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Carpenter prefers to stall for the moment though.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Gremlin manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Carpenter is working Gremlin over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Carpenter throws a pinpoint strike between Gremlin's hands that connects right on the jaw and sends Gremlin crashing to the floor! He's out before he even hits the mat and Carpenter scores a great knockout victory!
