The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lao misses with an uppercut.
Kerouac tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lao swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Lao looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Lao tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kerouac fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kerouac waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Lao.
A nice leg kick lands there from Lao.
Kerouac throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Lao counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Lao keeps the fight on the outside.
Lao looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kerouac lands a two punch combo.
We've been told by Kerouac's head coaches at Soul Supremacy Rio that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Kerouac throws a shot from downtown. Lao moves away and avoids it.
Lao keeps the fight on the outside.
Lao misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kerouac swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Jung Lao is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Kerouac has Lao up against the cage in a clinch.
Lao lands a nice shot to the body.
Lao scores with a shoulder strike.
Kerouac has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Lao is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Kerouac throws a punch but it's blocked by Lao.
Kerouac blocks an uppercut.
Kerouac is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Lao lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Lao lands a glancing blow to the side of Kerouac's head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

It looks like Jack Kerouac has been cut.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Lao! Kerouac is out on his feet! Lao rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Kerouac is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Kerouac is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.

After winning the bout, Jung Lao thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
