Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Armando Toni!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Alabama BackWoods!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
BackWoods misses with a double jab

and Toni counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
BackWoods wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Toni is now in half guard.

Toni is working for a kimura but BackWoods is defending it quite comfortably.
Toni not landing any meaningful shots this time.
BackWoods is looking to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Toni is looking for a kimura but BackWoods is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Toni to get the leverage.
BackWoods is looking to control Toni's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can BackWoods avoid being mounted?

Toni is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Toni is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but BackWoods still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, BackWoods has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

BackWoods tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
BackWoods lands a nice forearm strike.

BackWoods is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Toni is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Toni is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on BackWoods's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Toni is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Toni moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Toni looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Toni working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. BackWoods doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. BackWoods manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Toni looking to hit a scissor sweep but BackWoods is one step ahead there.

BackWoods got a little sloppy there for a moment and Toni has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, BackWoods has managed to get both his arms back between Toni's legs - danger averted.

BackWoods avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Toni pushes a forearm under BackWoods's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, BackWoods is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
