The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendes shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mendes showed some decent athleticism there.
Mendes trying to advance position but Potratz counters by regaining guard.
Mendes wants to pass the guard but Potratz is keeping the position.
Potratz working a defensive guard here.
Potratz wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Mendes is now in half guard.
Mendes is trying to work for a kimura but Potratz is defending well.
Mendes is pressing down on Potratz's thigh, looking to free his foot. Potratz is holding on for now.
Mendes looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Potratz is positioning himself well to prevent Mendes advancing to mount.
Potratz won't allow Mendes to pass to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mendes passes the guard and advances to mount!
Mendes is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Potratz has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Potratz!

Mendes has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Potratz should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Mendes has tightened it up now! Potratz should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
