Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Khamzu Nygov!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nygov is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

It looks like Kanoa Vatthana has been cut.

Oooooh!!! Nygov has knocked Vatthana down with a huge combo! Nygov steps away and waves a wobbly Vatthana back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Vatthana is rocked!
No luck for Vatthana with that takedown attempt.
Oh Vatthana is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Nygov scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Vatthana seems to have got his legs back now.

Vatthana is trying to maintain the position but Nygov is very close to passing his half guard.

Nygov wants to pass the guard but Vatthana is defending well.
Nygov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Vatthana. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Vatthana trying to hold on to Nygov's head to control him but Nygov postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vatthana is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Still in half guard, Nygov seems content to control.
Vatthana wants to improve his position but Nygov is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are battling for position here. Vatthana manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Nygov controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Vatthana had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Nygov defends it easily.

Vatthana escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nygov gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Vatthana is trying to control the position but Nygov postures up.

Vatthana is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Nygov rolls with it to try and escape but Vatthana cranks on the arm and Nygov is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Kanoa Vatthana!
A relieved looking Kanoa Vatthana thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
