The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gustus swings away with a body shot that misses
enabling Cyrus to counter with a crisp jab.
Cyrus ducks under a wild hook from Gustus.
Cyrus drops down looking for a counter takedown but Gustus sprawls and moves away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gustus is defended easily by Cyrus.
Nice takedown defense from Gustus. No joy for Cyrus on that attempt.
Cyrus throws a head kick that misses
and Gustus decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Cyrus's guard.
Gustus tries to free his leg and advance position but Cyrus is retaining full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gustus got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cyrus has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gustus has managed to get both his arms back between Cyrus's legs - danger averted.

Gustus tries to free his leg and advance position but Cyrus is retaining full guard.

Cyrus is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Gustus looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Gustus has hold of Cyrus's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Cyrus tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Gustus cranks the arm and Cyrus screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Cyrus, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Rantang Gustus!
