PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Xxx Xxx (ranked 6658 p4p, 6653 weight class) and Xxx Xxx (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Xxx Xxx will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Xxx Xxx!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 21 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Xxx Xxx!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Fighter B darts in looking for a takedown but Fighter A gets double underhooks and turns Fighter B into the cage.
It appears Fighter A was looking to counter with a kick there.

Fighter A gets caught napping as Fighter B dives in and scores a takedown. Fighter A manages to retain guard.

Fighter A has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Fighter B is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Fighter B is looking to break free of the clinch but Fighter A has double underhooks.
Fighter B working hard to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fighter A pulls guard successfully.
Fighter A on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Fighter A tries to get out of the position.
Fighter A has a closed guard, preventing Fighter B from standing up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fighter A bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Fighter B's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fighter B wants to get back to his feet but Fighter A is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Fighter A engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Fighter B wants to stand up but Fighter A is controlling him.
Fighter B is controlling Fighter A's posture.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Fighter A misses with a body kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fighter A leaves Fighter B with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Fighter A thinks about countering with a body kick.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Fighter B is defended easily by Fighter A.
Fighter A jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Xxx Xxx has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Xxx Xxx.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Fighter A keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Fighter A is looking to counter with a body kick.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Fighter A misses with a takedown
and Fighter B finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Xxx Xxx dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Fighter B shoots in for a takedown but Fighter A shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Fighter A is looking to counter with a shot to the body.

Fighter B feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Fighter A is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fighter A looking for a sweep. Not yet Fighter A, not yet.
Fighter B wanted to stand there but Fighter A had control of the position.

Fighter B stands and steps away. Fighter A gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Fighter A looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Fighter B thinks about the counter body kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Fighter B misses with a body kick.
Fighter A throws a quick counter kick to the body but Fighter B avoids it.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Fighter A misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Fighter B counters with a body kick.
Fighter B is trying hard to land a takedown here. Fighter A sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Fighter A is looking for a counter combo.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fighter B shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Fighter A pinned against the cage. Fighter A gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Xxx Xxx has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Xxx Xxx.
Fighter B misses with a takedown attempt
and Fighter A counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Fighter B changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Fighter A looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fighter A is looking for a sweep.
Fighter A controls the position for a moment.
Fighter A wants to control but Fighter B postures up.
Xxx Xxx has got the better of the ground game so far.
Fighter B is looking to take a break and control but Fighter A is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Fighter B is staying tight to Fighter A's torso, preventing him from escaping.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Xxx Xxx showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Fighter A closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Fighter B tries to escape but Fighter A is in control.

Fighter A stands up.

Fighter A gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Fighter A wants to get back to his feet but Fighter B passes into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fighter B tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Fighter A keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Fighter B is taking a breather. Fighter A says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Fighter B wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Fighter A uses the opportunity to regain full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fighter A seems keen to control Fighter B's posture.
Fighter B trying to control the position from guard on top but Fighter A is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Fighter B is looking to stand up but Fighter A won't let him.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Fighter B shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Fighter A as he avoids it easily.
Fighter A feinted with a counter takedown.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Fighter A bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Fighter A staying calm.
Fighter B is trying to improve his position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Fighter B is being controlled here.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Xxx Xxx.
I think Fighter A has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
