Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jeryl Christ (ranked 1556 p4p, 2300 weight class) and Clin Cartwright (ranked 169 p4p, 239 weight class). Cartwright has chosen Cirice as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jeryl Christ!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Clin Cartwright!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, John Kavanagh and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Christ is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Cartwright.
Christ throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Cartwright has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Cartwright shoots in for a double leg but Christ sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Cartwright misses with a straight left.
Christ ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
A telegraphed right hand from Christ misses the target.
And Cartwright tries to counter it with a takedown but Christ pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Cartwright ducks under a wild hook from Christ.
It seemed like Cartwright was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Christ misses the shot to the body.

Cartwright fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Christ sprawls well initially but Cartwright persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Cartwright is controlling the pace.

Christ looks like he's trying to stand up.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Cartwright in particular looking to stall.
Cartwright's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Christ tries to kick Cartwright off but Cartwright keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Christ misses with the combination.
Cartwright is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Cartwright closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Cartwright lands in his opponent's guard.

Christ trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Cartwright gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Christ changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

A decent looking cross lands there for Christ.
Christ lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Christ.

It looks like Clin Cartwright has been cut.
Christ throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Christ misses with an uppercut.
Cartwright changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Cartwright moves forwards but Christ connects with a nice, crisp jab.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cartwright is defended easily by Christ.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Christ just misses with a punch to the body.
Christ looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Cartwright with the counter takedown but Christ avoids it easily.
Christ looks to land a right hand but Cartwright moved out of range.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Clin Cartwright's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Christ looks to throw the jab but Cartwright is out of range.
The crowd cheers as Christ lands an impressive looking overhand right. Cartwright doesn't seem phased though.
Cartwright slips a straight right by Christ.
Cartwright staying out of range there.
Christ stuffs the takedown attempt from Cartwright. Cartwright gets slowly back to his feet.
Christ swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Cartwright shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Cartwright showed some decent athleticism there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cartwright controlling the action here.
Cartwright is looking to advance position but Christ won't allow it.
Christ knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cartwright on the ground.

Christ is trying to stand up here but Cartwright is controlling him well.
Christ on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Christ tries to get out of the position.
Cartwright passes to side control.
Christ prevents Cartwright from moving into mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Christ wants to get back to his feet but Cartwright drags him back down.
Cartwright wants to control but Christ is keeping him busy.
Christ is trying to get back to his feet.
Christ prevents Cartwright from improving position.

Cartwright has hold of Christ's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Christ tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Cartwright cranks the arm and Christ screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Christ, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Clin Cartwright!
Clin Cartwright seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
