Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Phoenix Peterson (ranked 5533 p4p, 5859 weight class) and Nicklas Ahlander (ranked 592 p4p, 607 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Phoenix Peterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nicklas Ahlander!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peterson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ahlander defends it nicely.
Ahlander swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Ahlander throws a leg kick

and Peterson counters with a single leg into guard. Ahlander didn't expect that.
Peterson looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Peterson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Peterson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Ahlander is trying to stand up here but Peterson is controlling him well.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Peterson is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Peterson blocks a low kick nicely.
Peterson changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Ahlander, as that shot connected.
Peterson tries to clinch but Ahlander is having none of it.
Ahlander shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Ahlander lands a right hook to the body.
Ahlander misses with a double jab.

Ahlander moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Ahlander tries to clinch there but Peterson circles away.

We've been informed that Ahlander has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

We've been hearing good reports from Peterson's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Peterson moves into full mount! Ahlander won't be happy about that!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Peterson fails with a takedown attempt.
Peterson shoots for a double leg takedown but Ahlander sprawls well. He's pushed Peterson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Ahlander throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Peterson takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

and Peterson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ahlander won't be happy with that.

A lull in the action here as Peterson stalls from top position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Peterson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ahlander lands a really nice looking cross but Peterson seems unphased.
Ahlander misses with an uppercut.
Peterson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ahlander pinned against the cage. Ahlander gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Phoenix Peterson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Peterson takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Nicklas Ahlander seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Peterson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ahlander sprawls well. Ahlander wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Peterson gets slowly back to his feet.

Ahlander lands a jab to Peterson's midsection.
Peterson closes the distance and clinches up with Ahlander, looking for a takedown. Peterson pushes Ahlander against the cage but Ahlander circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Ahlander is looking to chop away at Peterson's legs.
Peterson feinted with a counter takedown.
Ahlander stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Peterson is defended easily by Ahlander.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Peterson takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Ahlander has Peterson up against the cage in a clinch.
Ahlander digs a right hand into Peterson's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Peterson's gas tank.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Nicklas Ahlander showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

and Peterson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Peterson postures up and lands a big shot to Ahlander's brow.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Peterson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Peterson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Ahlander wants to get back to his feet but Peterson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Peterson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Peterson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ahlander for as long as he can get away with.
Ahlander has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Nicklas Ahlander is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ahlander tries to land a leg kick but Peterson saw it coming and moves away.
Peterson attempts a counter takedown but Ahlander avoids it well and moves away.

Nice straight punches there by Ahlander. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Ahlander.

Ahlander wants to clinch up but Peterson keeps it at a distance.
Ahlander throws a nice looking combination but Peterson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Peterson tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Ahlander defends well and Peterson ends up having to push Ahlander into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Peterson has Ahlander pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Ahlander manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Nicklas Ahlander comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Ahlander has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A relieved looking Nicklas Ahlander thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
Phoenix Peterson was interviewed post fight and said 'I'm not saying he cheated, but he cheated.'.
