PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Cooper (ranked 3330 p4p, 3791 weight class) and Jimmy Snuka (ranked 401 p4p, 434 weight class). Snuka comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Boogie On Reggae Woman - Stevie Wonder kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jimmy Snuka!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cooper moves forwards but Snuka connects with a nice, crisp jab.

It looks like Jeff Cooper has been cut.
Cooper doesn't manage to clinch there - Snuka circles away.
Cooper showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Snuka.

Snuka moves into range and clinches up with Cooper.
Cooper avoids a wild elbow strike from Snuka.

Snuka pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Cooper ducks under a wild hook from Snuka.
Snuka's coach down at Cause & Effect was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Snuka's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Cooper connects with a nice looking jab.
Snuka swats away the attempt to clinch by Cooper.
Cooper keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Snuka lands a nice looking body shot.
Snuka cracks Cooper with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cooper moves to clinch but Snuka breaks away
and Snuka connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Snuka stalks Cooper and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Cooper's face. Cooper staggers backwards, shaken.
Snuka goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Cooper is rocked!

Snuka lands a big uppercut and this one is all over! His foe lies motionless on the canvas - a massive one punch knockout!
