PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Randee Holloman (ranked 4707 p4p, 4672 weight class) and Mike Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brown has chosen Island Boy as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Randee Holloman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mike Brown!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Daniel Franklin and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slapping leg kick lands for Brown.

Holloman gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Holloman has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Brown after a bit of a struggle.
Brown blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Brown wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Holloman has him pressed against the cage.
Brown is trying to push Holloman away but Holloman has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Brown misses with a short punch on the inside.
Brown is trying to break free.

Brown breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Brown throws a right and a left that both miss.

Brown avoids the head kick by Holloman.
Brown tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Holloman throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Brown swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Brown connects with a looping right hand.

Oh Holloman is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Holloman throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Brown tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Holloman is in Brown's guard.
Holloman is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Holloman postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Brown really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Holloman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Holloman passes Brown's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Holloman seems to have got his legs back now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Holloman will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Holloman thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Holloman throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Holloman drops an elbow to the side of Brown's head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Holloman's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Holloman looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Brown with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Holloman works his foot free and advances to mount.
Holloman lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Holloman lands with some strikes.
Holloman takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Holloman has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Holloman has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Brown regains guard immediately.

Holloman seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Brown for as long as he can get away with.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Holloman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Holloman changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Brown looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Holloman, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
