PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jesse Thomas Babcock (ranked 3047 p4p, 5391 weight class) and Christian Simbolon (ranked 378 p4p, 558 weight class). Babcock comes to the cage accompanied by SS00999. The crowd seem to be enjoying Simbolon's choice of entrance music: Welcome to the Jungle. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Christian Simbolon!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Sandra Marshall and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Simbolon looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Simbolon closes the distance and clinches.
Babcock effectively controlling the action here.

Simbolon has Babcock pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Simbolon pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Babcock tumbling to the mat - Simbolon dives into Babcock's guard.

A looping hook to the body misses from Babcock. Simbolon does a little dance to reset his feet.
Babcock throws a jab but it's blocked by Simbolon.

Babcock drops down looking for a counter takedown but Simbolon sprawls and moves away.

and Babcock decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Simbolon's guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Jesse Thomas Babcock will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Simbolon fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Babcock on the side of the head.

Babcock fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Simbolon manages to avoid it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Babcock swats away the attempt to clinch by Simbolon.
Babcock moves out of range of the strikes.
Simbolon doesn't manage to clinch there - Babcock circles away.
Babcock waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Simbolon.
Babcock is looking to wear down Simbolon with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Simbolon tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Simbolon shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Babcock pinned against the cage. Babcock gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

and Simbolon counters with a thumping low kick.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Babcock, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
