Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jose Aldo (ranked 2797 p4p, 4934 weight class) and Seth Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 476 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Aldo might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Face The Pain. Seth Smith has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Aldo did well to prevent Smith getting side control.
Aldo on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Aldo tries to get out of the position.
Smith wants to pass the guard but Aldo is defending well.
Smith slows the pace down in half guard.
Aldo keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Smith is looking for a kimura here.

Smith is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Aldo is just riding it out for now. Smith eventually gives up the hold.
Smith controlling the pace.

Smith's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Smith passes the guard and advances to mount!

Smith moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Aldo has worked his arm free - good work by Aldo!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
It looks like Smith might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Smith is working to tighten his grip on Aldo's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Aldo has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Smith is really squeezing tight and eventually Aldo passes out! Smith breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
