PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Murfum Orcarm (ranked 3380 p4p, 3521 weight class) and Roddy Banner (ranked 421 p4p, 432 weight class). Banner has chosen BILMURI - LORDFARQUADZILLA as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Joseph Jones and Russell Pearce.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Banner misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Orcarm fails with the takedown.
Banner scores with a jab to the head.

It looks like Murfum Orcarm has been cut.
Banner throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Banner fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Orcarm looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Orcarm clinches with his opponent.

Orcarm jumps guard and drags Banner to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Orcarm has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Orcarm uses his free foot to push down on Banner's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Banner.

We've been informed that Banner has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

That was a close round but I would say that Murfum Orcarm will probably get the nod.

A head punch on the inside from Banner fails to land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Orcarm tries to pull guard but Banner forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Orcarm breaks the clinch.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Banner, as that shot connected.
Roddy Banner seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Orcarm shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Banner pinned against the cage. Banner gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Banner is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Orcarm's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Orcarm's back!
We've been hearing good reports from Orcarm's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Banner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Orcarm. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Roddy Banner showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
