PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Paddy Dimblett (ranked 1700 p4p, 1701 weight class) and Iago Pacheco (ranked 208 p4p, 209 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Iago Pacheco was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paddy Dimblett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Iago Pacheco!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Reed Andrews and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from Pacheco misses.
Pacheco with the inside leg kick.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Dimblett.
Dimblett seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Pacheco lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Dimblett tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Dimblett is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Pacheco really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dimblett. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Dimblett is looking for a kimura but Pacheco is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dimblett to get the leverage.

Pacheco has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Dimblett moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Pacheco stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Pacheco wants it to stay on the feet.

Pacheco lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Horrible takedown attempt by Dimblett or perhaps it was just good defense by Pacheco, which made it look bad.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Iago Pacheco showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Dimblett takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Dimblett.
Dimblett remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Dimblett has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Pacheco is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Dimblett yanks on the arm and Pacheco is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Dimblett.
