Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Scottie Lamez (ranked 535 p4p, 922 weight class) and Trevor McCallen (ranked 33 p4p, 55 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Scottie Lamez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Trevor McCallen!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Colin Fotheringham and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from McCallen misses.
McCallen is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Lamez.
Lamez slips a jab from McCallen.

Lamez gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Lamez is trying to pull guard but McCallen turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
McCallen swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Lamez blocking some punches.
McCallen digs a right hand underneath Lamez's ribcage. Lamez let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Lamez drags the fight down to the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McCallen controlling from the top position.
Lamez preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lamez pulls McCallen in close to his closed guard and prevents McCallen from doing any damage or advancing position.

McCallen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lamez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Lamez is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. McCallen is aware though and is defending well.

McCallen tries to free his leg and advance position but Lamez is retaining full guard.
McCallen must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

McCallen seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Lamez not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

McCallen is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
McCallen looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
McCallen advances to half guard.
Lamez is not content to let McCallen control the position.
Lamez has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
McCallen swats away the attempt to clinch by Lamez.
McCallen lands a jab to the nose.

McCallen's jab looks to have found its range, popping Lamez under the eye.

McCallen throws a head punch that misses.

Lamez fails to pull guard.
Lamez jumps guard but McCallen turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Scottie Lamez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McCallen lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
McCallen gets through Lamez's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
McCallen misses with the head strike.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Lamez pulls McCallen into guard.
McCallen wants to stand but Lamez is controlling his posture from full guard.
McCallen controls from within his opponent's guard.

Lamez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McCallen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
McCallen postures up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Trevor McCallen dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

McCallen dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Lamez tries to close the distance and clinch up but McCallen swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Lamez wants to clinch.
McCallen connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Lamez momentarily.
Lamez moves out of range as McCallen strikes.
The fighters circling - McCallen throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
McCallen throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Nice straight punches there by McCallen. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of McCallen.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lamez is looking to clinch.

and McCallen counters with a nice body shot.
McCallen just misses with a punch to the body.
Lamez tries to close the distance and clinch but McCallen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

McCallen gets tackled into the cage by Lamez. Lamez maintains the clinch.
Lamez tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. McCallen smiles and moves away.

Lamez jumps guard but McCallen stands there with Lamez around his waist. Lamez gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
McCallen has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Lamez pulls guard effortlessly.
McCallen stays in close to Lamez's body and controls the position.
McCallen pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lamez is keeping the position for now.

Lamez looking for a triangle here. McCallen is fighting it but it looks tight! Lamez pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, McCallen is tapping out - this one is all over!

An out of breath Scottie Lamez thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
In defeat, Trevor McCallen stepped up to the mic, saying 'Well Done Jason, good luck rest of the tournament.'.
