PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Do No Joy (ranked 4928 p4p, 4967 weight class) and Mesha Raj (ranked 422 p4p, 423 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Do No Joy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mesha Raj!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Raj tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but No Joy paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Raj takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
No Joy throws a leg kick which misses Raj's front leg but catches the back leg as Raj tries to avoid it.
A right-left combo lands from No Joy.
Raj shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. No Joy defends it nicely.
No Joy tests Raj's chin there with a solid looking shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

No Joy with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Raj to score with a decent uppercut.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

No Joy seems to have got his legs back now.
Raj shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as No Joy sprawls well. No Joy wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Raj gets slowly back to his feet.

Raj shoots in looking for a takedown but No Joy manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Raj's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Do No Joy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mesha Raj.

In his post fight interview, Mesha Raj started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
