PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Zen Myers (ranked 4555 p4p, 5985 weight class) and Clark Peter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Clark Peter was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Zen Myers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Clark Peter!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Peter throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Myers tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Peter is in Myers's guard.
Myers trying to control the position.
Peter cracks Myers with a solid left hand.
Peter pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Myers is keeping the position for now.
Peter trying to control but Myers is working from the bottom.
Peter engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Peter looking to sit in guard and control but Myers gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Myers accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Peter has Myers pulled in close to control his posture.
Myers throws an elbow that misses. Peter uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Myers's guard. Nice move by Peter!

Myers looking for a sweep. Not yet Myers, not yet.

Myers is working hard here to advance position.
Peter would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Myers is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Peter seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Myers looking for a sweep. Not yet Myers, not yet.
Myers is looking to stand up but Peter isn't so interested in that idea.

Myers looking to hit a scissor sweep but Peter is one step ahead there.
Peter scoring with some ground and pound.
Peter throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Myers works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Peter trying to control but Myers is working from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Myers rushes Peter and presses him up against the cage.

Peter has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Myers after a bit of a struggle.

Peter looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Peter blocks an elbow strike.
Peter tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Myers smiles and moves away.
Peter looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Zen Myers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Clark Peter.
Myers thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Peter if he has to take too many more of those.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Myers clinches up with Peter and pushes him back against the cage.

Myers breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Myers fails in his attempt to clinch.
No luck for Myers with that takedown attempt.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Excellent takedown into side control there by Peter.
Peter fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Peter in side control, throwing shots but Myers defends.
Peter is putting a hurting on Myers here, landing some big shots from side control.
Peter lands an elbow.
Myers tries to bench press Peter off him but Peter keeps the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Peter fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Peter working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Myers is looking to regain half guard here but Peter keeps moving and retains side control.
Myers might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Peter is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Myers will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Peter is looking to take a break and control but Myers is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Peter is working Myers over with some ground and pound from side control.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Myers is not content to let Peter control the position.
Myers gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Peter lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Myers wants to control but Peter is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Peter is trying to control the action in half guard but Myers is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Peter looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Myers fails in his attempt to clinch.
Peter swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

Peter shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Peter showed some decent athleticism there.
Peter with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Peter is trying to control. Myers wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Peter looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Peter in particular looking to stall.

Myers is trying to get back to full guard.
Myers has hold of Peter's hands but Peter slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Peter sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Let's hope that Peter has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Clark Peter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Myers throws a poor cross that misses

and Peter counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Myers!
Myers struggling a bit here.

Myers is staying active underneath Peter, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Myers is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

I would just about give that final round to Clark Peter.
