The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Seu Braga and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aldo works the jab nicely.

Da Silva tries to move into range but Aldo moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Aldo bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Da Silva's head.
Aldo shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Da Silva's guard.

Aldo has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Da Silva wants to get back to his feet but Aldo is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Aldo jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Antonio Aldo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Aldo lands with an uppercut that bounces Da Silva off the cage and back into rage.
Da Silva shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Aldo decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Da Silva's guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Da Silva walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Aldo goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Da Silva is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Aldo walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Da Silva drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Aldo swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Da Silva's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Antonio Aldo!
