The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fower shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ashton as he jumps to the side.
Fower tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ashton scores with a nice strike.

Ashton fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Fower sprawls well initially but Ashton persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Ashton drops an elbow to the side of Fower's head.
Fower has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ashton is working away from the top position though.
Fower missing with punches from the bottom.
Ashton tries to pass to full mount but Fower defends it.

Ashton is taking a breather. Fower says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ashton lands strikes from half guard.
Fower is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Ashton jumps into side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fower is looking for a sweep.
Fower takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Fower tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ashton wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
