PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Barney Stamp (ranked 4545 p4p, 5487 weight class) and Maris Rimenis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Albert Achterberg and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rimenis takes the fight into the clinch.
Rimenis blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Stamp gets caught napping as Rimenis dives in and scores a takedown. Stamp manages to retain guard.

Stamp isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Rimenis stacks Stamp on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Rimenis!

Rimenis is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Rimenis decides to stand up, so the ref orders Stamp to his feet.

That was a close round but I would say that Barney Stamp will probably get the nod.

Rimenis has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Stamp off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Rimenis is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Stamp's half guard.

Rimenis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stamp. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Stamp is looking to cinch up a triangle. Rimenis throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Stamp's body to avoid the submission. Stamp has instead reached around Rimenis's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Stamp arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

A relieved looking Barney Stamp thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
