Hatton comes to the cage accompanied by Bret Hart theme. Barry Baz will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bret Hatton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Barry Baz!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hatton shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Baz's guard.
Baz is trying to keep Hatton in close.
Hatton is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Hatton postures up and lands a big shot to Baz's brow.

Baz had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Hatton is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Baz Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Hatton's back instead.
Baz tries to get the hooks in deep but Hatton pushed the leg off.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hatton breaks Baz's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Hatton stopping the sweep attempt from Baz.
Baz looks gassed!
Baz is trying to control the position but Hatton postures up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hatton misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Hatton closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Hatton not doing much here.

Hatton is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Baz is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Bret Hatton!
