PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Karl Bach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rusty Gulper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bach comes to the cage accompanied by care bears countdown. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Rusty Gulper was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rusty Gulper!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Sergei Dronov and Dmitry Maklakov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Bach, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Bach checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Bach shoots in and bounces Gulper off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Gulper looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Bach puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Gulper misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Bach lands with a punch from half guard.
Bach trying to control the action but Gulper is working from the bottom.
Gulper wants to get back to full guard.
Bach winds up and cracks Gulper with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Gulper wants to improve his position but Bach is controlling well.
Bach has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Gulper taking some punishment here, with Bach in his half guard.
Bach works his foot free and advances to mount.
Gulper is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Gulper sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Gulper is looking to improve his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gulper wants to get back to his feet.
Bach stalling.
Gulper is looking for a sweep. Bach is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Bach working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Bach landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Gulper strikes from the bottom but Bach uses the opportunity to move to side control.
Bach cracks Gulper with a big right hand but Gulper just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

It looks like Rusty Gulper has been cut.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bach has control of an arm but Gulper manages to advance to Bach's back!
Bach throwing damaging strikes from the back! Gulper could be in trouble here!
Bach is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Gulper up.

That has opened up Rusty Gulper's cut even more.
I really don't envy Gulper right now.
Gulper trying to control the hands but Bach breaks the grip.
Bach trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
You can see the frustration on Gulper's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Bach is working the ground and pound. Can Gulper escape?

The cut above Rusty Gulper's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Rusty Gulper's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
