Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vinicius Verreira!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rebel Smith!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Colin Fotheringham and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith dodges the punch combination from Verreira.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Smith, as that shot connected.
Verreira fails with a takedown attempt.
Smith stuffs the takedown.
Verreira throws a series of punches but Smith avoids them all with ease.
Smith takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Smith throws a body shot but no joy.
Verreira gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Smith lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Verreira blocks a body shot from Smith.
Smith swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Smith lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Verreira backwards.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Smith tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Verreira has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Verreira swings wildly with an uppercut but Smith uses good head movement to avoid it.
Smith scores with a shoulder strike.

Verreira digs a right hand underneath Smith's ribcage. Smith let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Smith lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Verreira breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Verreira darts in looking for a takedown but Smith gets double underhooks and turns Verreira into the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vinicius Verreira. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Smith tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Verreira's elbow.

Verreira avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Verreira shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Verreira was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
