PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Roboute Guilliman (ranked 22822 p4p, 3342 weight class) and Tino Takala (ranked 650 p4p, 408 weight class). Guilliman kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Sabaton- Carolus Rex. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takala throws a lazy right hand but Guilliman sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Takala throws a sloppy head kick and Guilliman moves out of range easily.

and Takala holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Takala pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Roboute Guilliman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Guilliman dips to his left and cracks Takala with an uppercut!
Guilliman does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Takala! But no joy.

Guilliman throws a hook to the side of Takala's head but Takala sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

I was talking to Guilliman's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Guilliman lands with a right, followed by a left to the temple and Takala goes down! The ref sends Guilliman to a neutral corner so he can begin the count. 3,4,5,6 and Takala is back to his feet. He seems a little groggy but the referee thinks he's OK to continue, so we're back to the action!

Phew, his manager will be relieved but they're no doubt wondering whether he'll be able to recover properly and get back in the fight!

Guilliman catches his opponent with a big hook that sends him to the canvas! Takala stumbles back to his feet but will the referee allow it to continue? Takala walks forwards and this one will be allowed to continue! Come on!
Takala tries to land a front kick but Guilliman steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Guilliman creates a bit of space for himself and unleashed what can only be described as a tiger uppercut, straight out of Street Fighter! Takala crashes to the mat! Can he make it back to his feet in time? 3,4,5, yes, he's made it back to his feet. He seems OK so it looks like we're going to continue!
Guilliman throws a shot from downtown. Takala moves away and avoids it.
Guilliman sizes up Takala with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
A lazy left from Guilliman finds it's target.
Takala walks straight into devastating uppercut and drops to the floor, clearly wobbled! Can he beat the count? 4,5,6,7... he's up! And he's down again! The ref steps in and calls an end to the fight! What a punch that was!
