PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ron Time (ranked 4578 p4p, 4620 weight class) and Rico Salvacion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ron Time!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rico Salvacion!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Time scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Time decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Time lands strikes from half guard.
Salvacion keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Time is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Salvacion keeping full guard, as Time tries to pass.
Time not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Time is looking to stand up but Salvacion won't let him.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Time accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Time has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Time engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Time throwing strikes from guard but Salvacion blocks nicely.
Time throws an elbow that misses. Salvacion uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Time's guard. Nice move by Salvacion!

Time is controlling Salvacion's posture.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Time has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Time manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Salvacion gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Time.
Salvacion can't get the takedown.

Time turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Time manages to end up in side control.
A lull in the action here as Time stalls from top position.
Salvacion can't do much from the bottom here.
Time has control of an arm but Salvacion manages to advance to Time's back!
Time tries to escape the position.
Salvacion struggling to land strikes to the head as Time covers up.

Time tries to roll but Salvacion sticks to his back.
Time tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Time wants to control but Salvacion is having none of it.
Time is working to get back to half guard.
Time tries to hold on but Salvacion pushes him away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Time keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Salvacion avoids the attempt from Time to control.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Time pushes Salvacion up against the cage in a clinch.
Time stalling the fight.

Time escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nice takedown defense from Salvacion. No joy for Time on that attempt.

Time throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Salvacion tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Time is in Salvacion's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Time throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Salvacion works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Time is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Time.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Salvacion wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Time is now in half guard.

Time looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Salvacion trying to hold on to Time's head to control him but Time postures up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Salvacion is defending against the submission attempts here by Time.
Salvacion wants to get back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Time stalling.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Time shoots for a takedown but Salvacion saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Salvacion replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Time blocks it well.

Time gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Time gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Time sitting in guard, not really doing much.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Salvacion is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Time decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Time throws a head kick that misses.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Time shoots in looking for a takedown but Salvacion manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Time's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Salvacion is trying to counter with his kicks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ron Time. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Time misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Salvacion follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Ron Time dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Time ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Time closes the distance and pushes Salvacion back into the cage.

Time breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Time changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Salvacion tries to avoid it but Time manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Salvacion to the ground. Salvacion escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Salvacion steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.

Time forces Salvacion back against the cage and clinches.
Salvacion has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Time is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Time has his hands on Salvacion's head, controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Time tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Time looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Salvacion has picked Time up and slammed him! Time can't keep hold of the triangle and Salvacion manages to pass to side control!
Time isn't going anywhere.
Time wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Time is looking for a sweep.
Time is working hard here to advance position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Time manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Salvacion scoring with strikes to the body and head.

Time is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Salvacion pulls his head out easily.
Time wants to improve his position but Salvacion is controlling well.
Time is refusing to be controlled, as Salvacion sits in half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Time throws a head kick that half lands.

Time is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Salvacion's half guard.
Time is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Salvacion can do to turn this around?

Salvacion takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Time is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Salvacion has managed to free his arm - good work.
Rico Salvacion has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Ron Time is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Ron Time showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Time has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
