Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between April Boy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Fontana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steve Fontana will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Boy shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Boy working for a guillotine from mount but Fontana is in no mood to give up.
Boy fails to move to back control.
Boy thowing shots but they're missing.
Fontana wants to hold on but Boy pushes him away.
Fontana keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Boy moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Fontana has worked his arm free - good work by Fontana!
Fontana manages to get back to half guard.
Boy prevents Fontana from standing back up.
Boy is trying to control the action in half guard but Fontana is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Fontana wants to control but Boy is keeping busy.
Fontana is looking for a sweep. Boy is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Boy is working for a submission of some sort.

Boy is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Fontana is just riding it out for now. Boy eventually gives up the hold.
Fontana is trying to control but can't.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Boy is trying to control the action in half guard but Fontana is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Fontana misses with a takedown

and Boy counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Fontana's guard now.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Boy decides to stand back up. Boy steps back and let's Fontana get back to his feet.

Fontana throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Fontana can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Boy is looking to escape.

Boy turns into Fontana and is now in his guard.
Boy wants to pass the guard but Fontana is keeping the position.

and Boy counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Fontana!
Fontana tries to reverse the position but Boy maintains control.
Boy sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Fontana wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Boy.

April Boy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Boy is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Boy thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Fontana is controlling an arm, preventing Boy from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Boy jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Fontana is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Fontana and Boy has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Fontana is trying to control Boy's posture but Boy avoids it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Fontana is not content to let Boy control the position.
Boy happy to just control the position for now.
Boy is looking to take a break and control but Fontana is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Boy tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Boy wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Fontana, who protects the arm well.

Boy tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Boy has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Fontana sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Fontana is pressing down on Boy's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Fontana wants to sweep but no luck.
Boy wants to control from the top but Fontana keeps moving.
Boy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fontana swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Fontana looking for a sweep. Not yet Fontana, not yet.
Boy prevents Fontana from getting back to his feet.
Boy tries to free his leg and advance position but Fontana is retaining full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Boy looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Fontana is fending him off so far but Boy persists. Nope, Fontana circles away and we're back to standing.

Fontana has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Boy is proving hard to escape from.
Boy controls Fontana momentarily but Fontana frees himself.

Boy has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Fontana doesn't defend quickly enough and Boy has managed to lock this one up! Can Fontana escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Boy on a fantastic submission victory.
